He admitted to robbing Catherine Zeta-Jones of her lunch money when he was a student at Dumbarton. Brydon cites Barry Humphries, Frankie Howerd, and Woody Allen as among of his first comedic influences. In addition, he has stated that he used to learn entire sketches by Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, and Peter Sellers by heart.
Stand-up
Brydon’s first UK stand-up tour as Rob Brydon took place in 2009/10. (rather than as a differently named character). On November 23, 2009, the DVD of Rob Brydon: Live was released. In the second episode of the fifth season of BBC’s Live at the Apollo, Brydon served as host. This year, Brydon took part in the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital Comedy Gala, which was shot live at the O2 Arena on March 30th, 2010. When he was one of six presenters at Buckingham Palace on June 4, 2012, for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert, When Scotland had its independence referendum in 2014, Brydon was one of 200 notable individuals who signed a letter to The Guardian opposing it.

Martina Fitchie was Brydon’s wife from 1992 till 2000. Both Katie (August 1994) and Amy (July 1998) were born during the time they were married. They also have a son, Harry (born October 1996). Clare Holland, a former producer for The South Bank Show, married Brydon at Windsor church on October 6, 2006. Residents of Strawberry Hill in Richmond upon Thames live there. It is a family of four with two sons: Tom (April 2008) and George (June 2011). Brydon is a Swansea City fan and an ambassador to the club’s 1912 foundation, which he enjoys playing golf.

Honors and accolades
An honorary fellowship has been bestowed upon Brydon by the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. For his contributions to comedy and broadcasting, as well as his work in charity, Brydon was named an MBE in the 2013 Birthday Honours.
