When Adam (Richard Hawley) and his son Aidan Connor (Richard Hawley) return to Weatherfield in November 2016, they find him in Underworld (Shayne Ward). Following a stroke, he, Peter, and his aunt Tracy Barlow pay a visit to Ken in the hospital. Meet Daniel Osbourne, the eldest child of the late Ken Osbourne (Rob Mallard). Tracy’s ex-husband, Robert Preston, is at the table, and Adam stands up for her at dinner with his family. Calling Environmental Health is Adam’s retaliation for Robert.

A quarrel breaks out between Adam and Aidan as he gets into an intimate relationship with Maria, played by Samia Longchambon. Tracy tries to frame Adam, but Adam finds out and admits that he is suspicious of Tracy. Adam is suspicious of Daniel, while Tracy is suspicious of Adam. Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney), Tracy’s daughter, believes that Adam is responsible and calls the police with proof to prove it. Adam is back in custody, but his focus shifts to Daniel and Sinead Tinker, Daniel’s girlfriend (Katie McGlynn). Adam subsequently learns that Aidan and Maria are having an affair when he spots them kissing on the street.
Adam blackmails Aidan by taking a picture of the two of them. Aidan’s fiancee Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) finds out about his relationship with Maria and begs him to stop blackmailing him. Later, he confesses to having feigned pregnancy to keep Aidan from seeing Maria. Adam is on board, but Eva admits that she is out for vengeance and that she needs Adam’s assistance to accomplish her goal. Adam agrees, and the two of them plan revenge.
Creation
Retcon: Adam’s existence is just a figment of the imagination. Susan didn’t “abort” her child because she wasn’t ready for motherhood, but she did it off-screen because she wanted to leave Mike Baldwin (Johnny Briggs). Even though Ken’s relationship with Susan ended in 1987, he continued to visit her off-screen and was aware of Adam at the time. Susan was rumored to have been there at Peter and Elizabeth’s 1990 nuptials.
Development
Adam Barlow, Peter Barlow, and Daniel Osbourne were reintroduced in July 2016 on Coronation Street, along with Adam. Chris Gascoyne reprised his role as Peter, Rob Mallard took up the part of Daniel, and Adam Robertson returned to the cast. On the show’s future ambitions, executive producer Kate Oates told Digital Spy: “I consider it an honor and a privilege to be able to work on the longest-running soap opera. “I’m glad to be back,” Robertson exclaimed upon his homecoming.
