On August 10th, 1968, Broderick Dornell Smiley was born in Washington, D.C. He is an American comedian, actor, host, and radio broadcaster. Smiley covers his voice and converses with the caller. He hosts the nationally syndicated Rickey Smiley Morning Show from Atlanta’s WHTA “Hot 107.9”. Smiley starred in The Rickey Smiley Show on TV One. He also writes for the Fox-produced tabloid show Dish Nation. Smiley began appearing on Rickey Smiley For Real in 2015.

Smiley’s most memorable phone calls include: “Buried Alive” – Smiley plays a narcoleptic who works at a funeral home and “fell asleep in one of these caskets” and contacts a cemetery stating “they done buried me alive”. That is followed by an order to “dig all these graves open” A man who feels his fiancée has left him, and who punctuates every speech with the term “dawg” (“Is my sweetheart over there dawg…tell her I love her, dawg”) (“Is my girl over there dawg…tell her I love her, dawg”).
After first luring him with phrases like “I’m just about to go crazy over here” and “I want you to come over and harm me,” Smiley’s character reveals that she is in fact a hermaphrodite and proceeds to play with his emotions (“that means I got both genitals”). K.D. informs Gina he is “still coming,” causing her to add “my grandma over here…she really nuts.” K.D. then begs the grandma to “clean my cranium to the white meat” and “what sort of draws you got on.”
“Churches” – Smiley portrays two personalities in this call. Two people contact restaurants and ask, “Don’t the chicken belong to the church?” One is an elderly woman. In addition to asking for dinner delivery, “Willie” claims to be a heavyset guy with a thyroid ailment (“I can’t get out of the house anymore”), and queries regarding the menu (“Is your okra fried, or is it all slimy in the pot like granny used to make?”).
Career
Smiley joined the morning show of Dallas’ KBFB in April 2004. The show includes prank calls, news, information, and the latest hip-hop music. The Rickey Smiley Morning Show is now carried on a number of mainstream urban radio stations. A year later, in 2013, it was acquired by Reach Media. As an example, he has a song called “We Miss Robert” that is based on an actual incident in which a drug dealer’s close buddy performs at his funeral in an attempt to land an album deal with the expectation that his song “Roll Tide” featuring his redneck character Buford will do well.

The brothers ask the lady what she made for dinner before she hangs up in frustration.
“Whose Funeral?” –
Smiley phones a funeral parlor and asks for her deceased neighbor Wilbert Smith. She discovers he was cremated and screams in sorrow as the funeral director confirms it. The lady then asks who they’re burying this week and offers to attend in Wilbert’s place. The man informs her they are burying Hattie Mae Barkley, and she screams in despair again.
Personality
On July 6, 2020, Smiley revealed that his daughter, Aaryn, had been shot in a road rage incident the previous Saturday.
