EPA-certified range of 520 miles for Lucid Motors’ Air Dream Edition makes it the longest-range EV ever rated by the government. It’s official: Lucid’s upcoming electric sedan will have the industry’s longest range of any production EV, as claimed by the company over a year ago. For CEO and CTO Peter Rawlinson, who oversaw the Model S’ development while at Tesla and has predicted that the Air will outperform Elon Musk’s company in terms of range, luxury, acceleration, and pricing, this is also a success for Lucid Motors. The Model S Long Range Plus has a range of 310 miles, whereas the Air Dream Edition has a range advantage of nearly 100 miles.
With a starting price of $169,000, this extra range will come at a premium. New for the year 2022?
When it comes to electric vehicles, Lucid Motors is best known for supplying batteries to Formula E race cars. With its all-new 2022 Air sedan, the startup company hopes to take on high-end rivals like the Model S and Porsche Taycan.
