Flight Reacts Dead: Police in New York City says Etika, a popular YouTuber who specialized in Nintendo-related content under the name Desmond Amofah, was found dead. Since Amofah went missing last week after posting a Video addressing suicidal thoughts, the NYPD has been searching for him. On June 20th, about 36 hours after Amofah posted an eight-minute video to his secondary YouTube channel!
TR1Iceman, in which he expressed suicidal intentions, the NYPD confirmed Amofah’s disappearance as a missing person’s case. According to YouTube’s community guidelines, the video has already been taken down. However, it has been shared by others. As the New York Post reported, police found Amofah’s possessions along the Manhattan Bridge on Saturday night. While Amofah has been openly dealing with mental health difficulties for a long length of time, his recent behavior has been particularly distressing to his fans and the YouTube community as a whole.
According to Influencer’s Marketing Hub, a YouTuber may expect to earn $3 – $5 per thousand views, or an average of $18 per thousand ad views ($0.018 per ad-view), from their channel. Long videos provide the opportunity to broadcast a number of advertisements. Because the majority of his movies are longer than 10 minutes, his videos contain many advertisements. Views of monetized advertisements often account for 40 to 80 percent of total views in most cases.
Following YouTube’s decision to deactivate his channel for violating its policies by posting explicit material, Amofah commented that it was “time to die” on his defunct YouTube channel. During a confrontation with New York City police in April, Amofah live-streamed the incident, which was triggered by many strange tweets, including one that included a photo of himself posing with a gun. Kotaku at the time of Amofah’s death was told by New York police that she was “threatening suicide in the flat” and had a history of mental health concerns.

Later, he was transferred to a hospital in Brooklyn. According to fellow streamer and ex-girlfriend Alice Pika, Amofah assaulted a police officer in May and was hospitalized. Amofah’s fans on YouTube and Twitch have made several attempts to contact him, both secretly and openly, in the days since he vanished. A tweet from Daniel “Keemstar” Keem to Amofah, a YouTube creator, asked for assistance.
Please, Keem wrote on Twitter, “let the internet know you are still alive if you can see this right now. People may think you’re crazy, but there will be many more who are relieved to learn you’re okay. Since the previous few days, Twitter has been filled with people expressing their gratitude for Amofah’s channel and how much it meant to the YouTube community. In addition to Pika’s Amofah videos, Reddit users also contributed their own favorite Amofah moments. It was announced on Tuesday that Amofah had died, and the official YouTube Creators account offered its sympathies to his family and followers.
A follow-up tweet included the phone number of a support group for those dealing with mental health issues. Requesting YouTube to reinstate Amofah’s farewell video alongside the phone numbers for suicide hotlines is also being made by other members of the community. The future of Amofah’s other channel is still unknown, but The Verge has contacted YouTube for comment.
