Estee Lauder 4N1 Shell Beige Review: Estee Lauder 4N1 Shell Beige is described as a “medium brown with neutral undertones.” It’s a shade from the Double Wear Stay in Place Matte Powder Foundation collection, which retails for $42.00 for 0.4 oz. and has a matte texture and medium coverage. Estee Lauder just launched a new foundation/serum hybrid. Perfectionist claims to improve skin firmness, brightness, moisture, and wrinkles in just 8 weeks.
Change your appearance. As a base or a top coat, use Estée Lauder’s Double Wear Stay In Place Matte Powder Foundation. Full coverage or a touch-up. All-day/night endurance The weightless, silky smooth texture is flawless. Reduces shine and oil production. True to color. To customize coverage, flip the two-sided applicator. For full or medium coverage, utilize either side. To get the best coverage, wet the applicator. For a matte finish, use a powder brush to set Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup. Estee Lauder’s new Perfectionist Youth Infusing Makeup is a two-in-one product that combines a foundation with a miraculous healing serum.
These serum foundations have just become popular, and like BB Creams, it appears that everyone will own one at some point. This category would have to include It Cosmetics CC Veil Beauty Fluid Foundation and Urban Decay Naked Weightless Foundation. Perfectionist, which is thicker than many liquids but not as thick as a cream foundation, is Estee Lauder’s first foray into the area of foundation/serum hybrids. My skin tone is similar to 1N1 Ivory Nude, which is light yet too dark for the lightest skin tones. Although Double Wear comes in 31 colors and Perfectionist only in 21, your Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place hue is definitely adequate.)
Anti-aging Components won’t stay Stable
Overall, I enjoyed this foundation, but it didn’t “wow” or “revolutionize” me. It does contain some skincare and cell-communicating ingredients, but only in trace levels. It won’t replace your regular serum, but that’s to be expected with these kinds of products. Because key anti-aging components won’t stay stable in the glass bottle if exposed to light, the SPF 25 provides the best anti-aging protection.
It’s silky and easy to work with. It’s not a cream foundation, but it’s more substantial than most serum foundations. Coverage is a natural-looking Medium that works best when used lightly rather than aggressively. (Sun protection is not provided by the light application.) It lasts longer than most foundations while also without drying out the skin like many Long-Wear, Transfer Resistant formulas, making it excellent for normal to dry skin. This will be too moisturizing for oily skin types, and the smooth texture will highlight oily areas. I prefer oily-skin formulations over dry-skin formulations in the summer, but my ordinary skin will most likely be dry in the winter, so I’ll favor these formulae.
I like smooth finishes with a little sheen, but I’m not a huge fan of sparkles. Instead of giving the “ethereal glow”, they’re supposed to, their existence devalues everything. When the Perfectionist Foundation is applied, there are no sparkles, but upon closer inspection, you can see a few scattered shards of glitter. It’s not much, but it exists, so be cautious. Again, I believe the Perfectionist Sculpting Brush was the most amazing product in the Perfectionist Pair, but at $45, I can’t justify the price for the foundation or brush. In every manner, Buxom Show Some Skin Weightless Foundation SPF 30 resembles Estee Lauder Perfectionist Foundation.
My Thoughts on the Product:
I spent a long time looking for a foundation that matched my skin tone (type, tint, and undertone). After about a year of use, I discovered that my Studio Fix Powder was no longer working for me because my skin’s texture and moisture content had changed. To give you an idea, in the summer, I have a combination of oily skin, and in the winter, I have a combination normal of skin with dry patches and pimples. I struggled to find a foundation that would hide my flaws, last all day, not look fake, feel light on my skin, and not clog my pores.
Estee Lauder Double Wear and Make Up For Ever HD were the foundations I chose. I simply opted to try Double Wear on my face before purchasing it one day while scrolling past the Estee store, and I was matched to Shade 4N1 Shell Beige, and as soon as the SA began applying it to my face, I knew it was the appropriate shade. I knew I’d found my new foundation when I saw the difference in radiance between the side where the SA applied the foundation and the side where Studio Fix was applied! You must blend fast due to the fluid nature of the recipe. Because it works best for me, I apply it with my trusty The Body Shop Foundation Brush. Your fingers can also be used.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Makeup SPF 10 comes in a cuboidal glass bottle with a golden screw-top cap. The foundation bottle has a classy and historic aspect thanks to the gilded lettering. I prefer a foundation with a pump for better cleanliness, but I’m sure many others do as well. The cap of the bottle may be crushed if it falls into your makeup drawer. It’s also not very portable because it’s made of glass. Despite the title “Double Wear,” the foundation has a delicate and watery texture (read creamy, thick, gloppy, etc.). I always use a primer under my foundations, and this one is particularly lovely because it blends in nicely.
THE FIRST IMPACT
I stayed at home since having a black face around town would have been strange. Other reviewers complained that it didn’t wear well with a primer and that it had one built-in. It’s lighter and has a thinner consistency than I anticipated. It’s better than Revlon Colorstay for Oily/Comb Skin, which I use on a daily basis. Despite the fact that the foundation purports to be fragrance-free, there is a small cosmetic perfume on the container opening that is not discernible during the application or wear.
The finish is satiny, not matte, and after mixing, it leaves a soft dazzling shine on my face. It does, however, keep oil at bay, and I’ve never needed to use a powder or compact on top of it for my combination skin. It easily lasts 10 hours or more and properly holds other cosmetics such as blushes and highlighters. It won’t oxidize, fade, or discolor your clothes. The SPF 10 foundation still looks great in images.
Medium coverage with the ability to be built up. However, I usually avoid it!
Before applying this foundation, the sales assistant recommended I thoroughly hydrate my face, which was quite helpful. Due to its drying qualities, regular usage of this foundation may not be recommended. In my case, wearing foundation for two days in a row aggravates my dry skin, and I occasionally develop dry acne, so be cautious.
Summary:
Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup SPF 10 is an excellent long-wearing foundation. It cannot be transported in a glass bottle with a screw lid. It offers a satiny finish and medium coverage without seeming flat or drab. It can also be used as a basis for other cosmetics like highlighters and blushes. It also pictures nicely, although I only advocate applying it on occasion because it can dry out your skin. Despite the fact that the foundation claims to be for “all skin types,” I think it’s ideal for Combination to Oily skin.
