Whether or not I can use candles decorated with florals
Candles that have been decorated with Mod Podge ® or Royal Coat ® Decoupage Finish are only meant to be decorative, not functional. When lit, several of the ornaments would catch fire and pose a fire hazard. It is possible to burn down a wide votive candle somewhat to make a well before inserting a votive candle if the decorations do not extend to the top of the candle. When the previous votive candle is finished, a new one can be inserted. Take care when lighting candles that have been decorated, and use caution and common sense.
How can I do food-safe decoupage on clear plates?
Decoupaging in reverse is the term used to describe this technique. Please refer to 33302 Botanical Birds for reverse decoupage. After the glass plate has been properly prepped, you can apply your choice of Martha Stewart Crafts Decoupage Finish to the rear to achieve the look of these plates. Afterward, apply the Martha Stewart Crafts Decoupage Finish of your choice to both the front and back sides of the bird paper cut-out. The typical decoupage technique should be followed, with the Martha Stewart Crafts Decoupage Finish of your choice being applied and the appropriate drying durations allowed between applications. Using an opaque coat of paint, cover the entire backside of the plate with a decoupage. Allow 21 days for curing before using.
Using napkins or tissue paper, how do I decoupage?
Determine whether or not the napkin is two-ply. If this is the case, divide and store. Apply Mod Podge straight to the surface you’re working on. Wipe clean the surface with a moistened sponge after carefully placing the printed napkin on top of it. Begin in the middle and work your way outward. Let it dry after it’s been installed. Apply a thin coat of Mod Podge on top after 30 minutes.
How do I apply paper to glass or acrylic?
Allow a thin layer of Mod Podge® to dry on the form’s interior before applying a second layer. Using your thumb, carefully press the Napkin design into place. Start in the center and brush out a second, very thin layer of Mod Podge® onto the picture. Allow it to completely dry before moving on to the next step. After sponging the pattern, allow it to dry before applying any additional sponging or spouting. FolkArt® Acrylic Colors in a light shade should be used to cover the entire interior. Make sure that the Napkin design is first painted in a light color, then apply the darker color once it has dried.
How can I apply paper napkins to a tabletop or counter?
You want to use only the top layer of the Napkin. You can also use Mod Podge® and let it dry completely (to speed up drying, you may use a hairdryer set on low). To do this, set the Napkin where you want it on the surface. A piece of parchment paper should be placed on top of the Napkin and ironed on the cotton setting. Remove the parchment paper after it has had time to cool. The picture will be melted and adhered to the surface by the Mod Podge®. This method allows you to move the image about until you iron it down. A flat Napkin will be just like the surface it is on; it will not tear or display bubbles. Apply a final coat of Mod Podge® for a polished look.
First, paint the area where the Napkin will go with a thin layer of either Mod Podge® Gloss, Matte, or Sparkle Finish. Place the Napkin on the surface and carefully press it down with your fingertips after it has dried a little – till it is slightly sticky. The Napkin should not be damp at any point during use. The first time this happens, you used too much Mod Podge; the second time, use a lighter coat. Allow air-drying. Finally, add a second coat of Mod Podge®, this time starting in the center and working your way outwards with a soft brush.
