Vanity Fair Star Wars Release Date: Televised Uprising, Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen’s Obi-Wan Kenobi, Diego Luna’s Andor, Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka, and new series are all included in this exclusive look. Diego Luna was terrified of the driver. Everyone made him Suspicious. Wasn’t he aware of phone-hacking snoopers? “That was paranoia,” the actor responds.
“Reality-free” While a distant voice disclosed galactic mysteries, he gripped his phone so tightly to his ear that it scorched his face. The double-decker highway in Mexico City was congested. To avoid talking too much in the car, Luna employed code phrases. He steered clear of celebrities and battles. Luna played Cassian Andor in Rogue One. The phone was answered by Tony Gilroy, who had reworked the film’s script. Gilroy, who penned the first four Bourne thrillers as well as writing and directing Michael Clayton, was working on a series that would go into Andor’s origins and illustrate how he came to be a selfless martyr.
George Lucas tried a live-action Star Wars series called Underworld before selling Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012. He needed scripts and test footage, but they were too expensive for a television budget. In 2017, Disney challenged Lucasfilm by creating not one, but multiple programs to support its streaming goals. To compete with Netflix and Amazon, Disney+ needs Star Wars. The global triumph of The Mandalorian raised expectations. Over 40 years after Return of the Jedi, The Book of Boba Fett offers the character a second opportunity. With 130 million people waiting, Disney has demanded three Star Wars series in a year. Lucasfilm discusses how its TV universe arose under immense stress in this story.
Ewan McGregor reprises role as exiled Jedi Master
Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on May 27, 10 years after his arrival on Tatooine, where he serves as a distant guardian to young Luke Skywalker while being pursued by a dark side “Inquisitor” named Reva (Moses Ingram from The Queen’s Gambit). Luna’s spy saga, Andor, will premiere this summer. Pedro Pascal’s gunfighter will be reunited with his small green ward in Season 3 of The Mandalorian (you know who). Rosario Dawson will star in the upcoming series Ahsoka as Anakin Skywalker’s apprentice, a fan favorite Force wielder. The Acolyte takes place a century before the events of Skywalkers.
Fans of Star Wars are of great age. McGregor, who considered joining the galaxy in the late 1990s, said that the job has taken over his life. He explains, “Mary is about to begin the Star Wars series with Rosario.” Ahsoka was rumored to be played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, but Lucasfilm no longer has to. Last summer, McGregor and Winstead welcomed their first child. “It will either be accepted or rejected by him. “Perhaps he’s a Trekkie! (aaplumbingsa.com) ” I speculate. Luna recalls staring out the car window on the day he was recruited by Andor in mid-2019, imagining resistance-minded agents and near-death escapes.
Gilroy’s proposal included personal touches, which he appreciated. Andor is described by Luna as a refugee story about desperate people leaving the Empire. He calls it a “migrant trek.” This story is about an overwhelming desire to move. It alters your personality. It characterizes you and your willingness to take risks.” Gilroy offers Andor more room to breathe. “Did he die for the cosmos?” He gave without expecting anything in return. he asks. “That concludes season one.” He’s a disaster, revolution-phobic, cynical, and disoriented.” The story begins with the collapse of Andor’s birth world and continues into maturity when he realizes he won’t be able to leave forever.
Two Exclusive Covers for Rise Skywalker Help You Decide
The story finally comes to an end. That’s what the upcoming Star Wars film trailer promises. After 42 years and nine films, the story of young Anakin Skywalker and his family will come to an end. Beginning with the Phantom Menace cast in 1999, Vanity Fair photographer Annie Leibovitz has been photographing the war between the Jedi and Sith for the magazine for the past 20 years. In Leibovitz’s latest, most comprehensive body of work, which features an in-depth cover story by novelist Lev Grossman, new and old characters reconnect.
When The Force Awakens’ cast debuted on the pages of Vanity Fair in 2015, a single Leibovitz portrait of the cast featured on the cover. The Last Jedi’s four Leibovitz-shot covers featured the battle between light and dark as villains, heroes, and those in the middle gathered for the battle. However, as is typical of the Skywalker story, the climactic fight might be decided by only two characters. Annie Leibovitz photographed Daisy Ridley’s brave Rey and Adam Driver’s tormented Kylo Ren in Jordan’s Wadi Rum desert for Vanity Fair’s presentation of The Rise of Skywalker. The magazine has gone on to document each of the subsequent Star Wars episodes, including 2015’s blockbuster The Force Awakens.
Check out Grossman’s cover story on the newest Star Wars adventure, and keep an eye on VF.com for more behind-the-scenes details. The summer edition of Vanity Fair will be available on newsstands on May 30 in New York and Los Angeles, and on June 4 in the rest of the country. All new programs are linked by Devotion. “We’re one story,” says Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm. George was frequently having episodes. His stories were published in installments. He was affected by Flash Gordon and Saturday cliffhangers. All of this shaped Star Wars’ DNA, so it was only natural to adapt the franchise to television.
The New Skywalker Trilogy’s Ultimate Teaser
The conclusion of the Star Wars saga after four decades is a monumental achievement. Lev Grossman interviews director J.J. Abrams and cast member Lev Grossman for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at The Rise of Skywalker. Ancient stone inscriptions dating back over 2,000 years can be found in Wadi Rum. Lawrence of Arabia traveled through this village during the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire. J. J. Abrams, director of The Rise of Skywalker, recently visited the region to film because it is largely desolate, strikingly gorgeous, and appears to be from another world.
The way the Star Wars films are shot on location with as few computer effects as possible has always made them feel so real—as if they have a real life of their own that goes beyond the limits of the screen. George Lucas shot the Tatooine segments from A New Hope in southern Tunisia. Skywalker’s destination is Wadi Rum. There is no need for them to proceed in this manner. Abrams and his crew were in charge of constructing kilometers of desert road. The cast, crew, and extras were required to dwell in a small town out in the middle of nowhere, with the creature-effects department alone employing 70 people.
To a degree, that’s the point: you’re in the spotlight to record what’s going on around you. “It’s the stuff you can’t anticipate—the flaws,” says Oscar Isaac, who plays Resistance pilot Poe Dameron. Because it is difficult to engineer imperfection, the flaws you have quickly convey a sense of authenticity in these spots. As a result, your enthusiasm for it has increased.” Isaac was greeted by a large green screen in the middle of the desert that Abrams had set up for him on his first day in Wadi Rum.
“‘J. J., may I ask you a question?’
I then asked. “We’re utilizing greenscreen, as far as I can tell.’ “So, why are we here?” he wonders. And to that, I say, “Yes!” Because of how the sand interacts with the light, he added, “Well, because if you were designing this photo on a computer you would never even think to do that.” Something about the interaction of light and environment seems appealing “He keeps going. That something, the presence, complexity, and analog flaws of a true, nondigital place, is what makes Star Wars so captivating.
