When Morgan was 18, she was involved in an automobile accident that left her paralyzed from the chest down. Morgan had planned to attend the University of Manchester to study law before the accident. After returning to Brighton to live with her parents, she decided to study art at City College Brighton & Hove instead of pursuing a career in the field. After completing her art foundation study at Goldsmiths, University of London, she began a bachelor of arts degree in fine arts. He received a diploma from the Institute for Arts Therapy and Education later on.

How can you transform one of the worst possible outcomes into a positive? After a car accident left Sophie Morgan paraplegic, her mother Carol’s “can-do” attitude inspired the TV presenter. Sophie Morgan, a 35-year-old television presenter and disability rights advocate, lives in London. I felt guilty for a long time after the accident that I had caused Mum’s death. Despite the fact that she never made me feel that way when my life changed, hers altered, too.

I had hugged her goodbye at the airport the day before it happened, both of us feeling that I was about to begin on a new, autonomous chapter in my life. My dependence on her had resurfaced to an almost childish level over our lovely summer weekend. We had no idea at the time. As time passed, she not only served as my nurse but also served as both a confidante and a cheerleader as I struggled to return to “regular” life.

I felt guilty, because Mine, Mum’s life changed

The nature of my spinal injuries was explained to my mother, a former nurse, as soon as she arrived at the small hospital in Elgin. Both of my parents instilled in me a sense of forwarding movement in me, rather than a sense of nostalgia. My ‘get on with it’ mentality, which I inherited from my parents, saved my life. It felt depressing to be on the verge of adulthood and unable to put on my own clothes. My focus quickly turned from what I couldn’t accomplish to what I could, thanks to Mom’s constant encouragement. (crossover99.com)
