Sophie Morgan Dad: Morgan was born in East Sussex in 1985, not far from Crowborough. Her father is a wine broker, while her mother has worked as a nurse, a gundog trainer, and an airline attendant before her time in the service. At Cumnor House School in Danehill, East Sussex, Morgan received his formal education. Because she’d been expelled from her previous school in England, Sophie was assigned to the Gordonstoun School in the Moray region of Scotland.
When Morgan was 18, she was involved in an automobile accident that left her paralyzed from the chest down. Morgan had planned to attend the University of Manchester to study law before the accident. After returning to Brighton to live with her parents, she decided to study art at City College Brighton & Hove instead of pursuing a career in the field. After completing her art foundation study at Goldsmiths, University of London, she began a bachelor of arts degree in fine arts. He received a diploma from the Institute for Arts Therapy and Education later on.

The nature of my spinal injuries was explained to my mother, a former nurse, as soon as she arrived at the small hospital in Elgin. Both of my parents instilled in me a sense of forwarding movement in me, rather than a sense of nostalgia. My ‘get on with it’ mentality, which I inherited from my parents, saved my life. It felt depressing to be on the verge of adulthood and unable to put on my own clothes. Stalker
When Robert Keegan was convicted of harassing Morgan in August 2018, he was sentenced to a 12-month prison term, which was suspended for 18 months, and a restraining order prohibiting him from making contact with her indefinitely. After he violated the restraining order, he was held in a secure psychiatric facility in March 2019 while he awaits punishment at Inner London Crown Court.
Television is a great career option
Beyond Boundaries, BBC Two’s debut series, following a group of 11 disabled persons as they trekked 220 miles through Nicaragua from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific, 9 months after Morgan’s injury. She got amoebic dysentery in the forest and had to spend five days in the hospital, so she couldn’t finish the adventure. In 2009, the documentary Beyond Boundaries: Where Are They Now? was aired as a follow-up to the original series.
When Britain’s Missing Top Model aired in 2008, Morgan appeared. Women with impairments competed in the series to “show they have what it takes to become models.” The winner was awarded a Marie Claire fashion shoot with Rankin, a photographer well-known in the industry. Beauty and fashion industry insider Danny Cohen stated that this series’ goal was to push limits. Morgan finished second to Kelly Knox in the contest. Morgan was one of 12 women chosen to model Stella McCartney’s ‘MY2012’ sportswear collection for Adidas in 2011.

License to Kill, a BBC Three documentary examining road accidents caused by young drivers, premiered in 2013. Best Current Affairs Film of 2013 was awarded to the documentary by the Royal Television Society “An frequently heartbreaking film, focused on the agony that follows road-traffic tragedies and the terrible insouciance of young people about their own survival,” Tom Sutcliffe, for The Independent, wrote in his review.
Soon after the film aired, Morgan formed a partnership with the BBC Learning and Drive iQ, launching a tour called the Licence to Kill Schools Tour to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving among young drivers. Road Safety GB, Transport for London, and RoadSafe were among the organizations that supported the tour. As part of BBC Three’s Defying the Label season, Morgan traveled to Ghana in 2015 to deliver The World’s WORST Place To Be Disabled? a documentary on people with disabilities.
Anthropologist Nora Groce, who has worked extensively in the developing world with people with disabilities, described the film as “an authentic representation of the existence endured by millions of persons with disabilities”. British Channel 4 television series Best Laid Plans was co-hosted by Morgan and Charlie Luxton in 2018. When homeowners were having difficulties with their home renovation projects, they stepped in and helped the couples work out their differences and decide how to proceed. One season of the show was all it lasted.

Morgan has been on BBC Two’s Horizon, BBC One’s The One Show, and Channel 4 News’ No Go Britain, a series that focuses on issues related to transportation and accessibility for people with disabilities. In 2019, Morgan was a guest on Dispatches, a Channel 4 current affairs series, to discuss “The Secrets of Amazon.”
How to Change Your Life will be released in 2021
Along the way, Morgan meets a diverse group of individuals who share a common goal: to create fulfilling new lives around the activities they enjoy doing most. ITV’s Loose Women has featured Morgan as a guest panelist three times since November 2021. She is the second member of the panel with a disability to appear on the show, following Samantha Renke, a wheelchair user with Osteogenesis Imperfecta.
Broadcasting of sporting events
Morgan co-hosted Channel 4’s coverage of the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro with JJ Chalmers after appearing briefly as a presenter at the 2012 London Summer Paralympics. Along with hosting The Superhuman Show on Channel 4, Morgan also covered the 2016 IPC Swimming European Championships and co-hosted the show with Alex Brooker. The 2020 Summer Paralympics have a new presenting role for Morgan.
Advocacy for people with disabilities
Morgan was voted Cosmopolitan’s Girl of the Year in 2004 for her work with The Back-Up Trust, a charity that helps people with spinal cord injuries. At the 2013 Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women Awards, she was voted Ultimate Campaigner of the Year. Morgan was named a patron of the disability rights organization Scope in 2015. On top of that, she serves as a Global Ambassador for Leonard Cheshire and a member of Human Rights Watch’s special advisory council.
Mannequin: For Adidas and Debenhams in 2010, Morgan created the “Mannequin,” a wheelchair for a mannequin.
