Shark Iz300uk Review: In a home full of pet hair, carpets, and hardwood floors, we tested the Shark IZ300UK Anti Hair Wrap Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner. The Shark IZ300UK Anti Hair Wrap Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner is one of Shark’s most recent releases, and while it has many of the same characteristics as some of the greatest Shark vacuums, it also boasts PowerFins technology.
This works with the DuoClean floorhead, which allows you to alternate between carpets and hard floors without having to swap attachments. I tested the Shark IZ300UKT Anti Hair Wrap Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner (this is the version of the Shark IZ300UK that comes with a pet attachment) in my own home, which includes a mix of hardwood, tile, and carpeted floors with an inexhaustible supply of pet hair thanks to my black labrador. I was blown away by how nicely it handled even the most difficult areas, such as the space close to the dog’s bed and the corners of the kitchen tiles.
There are a few enhancements that a more expensive Dyson model will supply that you won’t get with the Shark. The backs of the V15 Detect and V11 Outsize do not lift off the floor when pulled back, and the screens on both versions are more advanced. The Dysons also control their own power levels, altering suction based on the type of surface they’re on, allowing them to last longer on a single charge.
Our IZ300UKT review sample came with a dusting brush and a crevice tool, as well as a handy bag to store them in, in addition to the main motorized floor head and the motorized pet tool. The collection bin holds 700ml of liquid, which is slightly more than typical cordless sticks. A five-year guarantee is also included with the vacuum.
Getting the Shark IZ300UK Up and Running
The packaging, which is nearly entirely cardboard and hence very recyclable, is a significant plus for Shark vacuums. The Shark IZ300UK came with a number of useful add-ons. The multi-surface tool is particularly intriguing, as it’s ideal for dusting or reaching up to the tops of refrigerators and bookshelves. It also came with a canvas bag to store the tool in, which is useful in the absence of a vacuum stand to store everything. It’s one of the greatest vacuum cleaners I’ve used all year because of this, as well as the intuitive display and strong design.
The dustbin snaps into the top of the stick in a reasonably intuitive manner, and assembly took only a few minutes. Of course, you can bend the stick over by pressing the button at the Flexology joint in the middle, and the casing around the hinge is a nice touch, allowing you to sling the vacuum over your finger without fear of it being pinched. The Reflexology design is particularly beneficial for storage, as well as for lowering the vacuum head beneath the furniture.
On carpets, the Shark IZ300UK
After reviewing the Shark ICZ300UKT Anti Hair Wrap Cordless Upright Vacuum Cleaner, I decided to put the Shark IZ300UK to the test. On carpets, the ICZ300UKT is fantastic, but the IZ300UK was equally remarkable. I vacuumed the area surrounding my dog’s bed, which is one of the trickiest areas in the home to clean, to check how well it handled everyday pet hair, and I was blown away by the visible line of clean carpet it left after just one pass.
The PowerFins, a new Shark innovation, are fantastic for reducing hair accumulation on the roller head, and the silicone paddles reach deep into carpet fibers and effortlessly take up even rooted-in dirt. I was able to finish the entire floor in a matter of minutes because I just required one pass to take up visible dirt and pet hair. The brush headlights are particularly useful for reaching under furniture and around the sofa, although they cannot be turned off in the sunshine.
On firm flooring, the Shark IZ300UK
In general, hard floors are easier to clean than carpet, which is where this vacuum really shines. However, it worked well on kitchen tiles, and the strong handle and flexible brush head made it easy to maneuver. The head is a little bulky, and I found that the Shark IZ300UK’s plastic casing limited the reach of the roller from accessing every last crumb and coffee ground that sat against the base of my kitchen cupboards, compared to the Dyson V15 Detect Absolute, which has the roller head out in front of the machine to pick up crumbs that might be wedged against walls.
How long does the battery last?
The IZ300UK has three battery power levels, and while it promises to have a battery life of up to 60 minutes in eco mode and when using a non-motorized tool like the crevice tool, this is only true when using a non-motorized tool like the crevice tool. For everyday use, expect a shorter battery life. If this is an issue for you and you need the hour-long window, go with the Shark IZ320UK, which is the same device but with a second battery so you can replace your first one when it runs out.
Shark’s newest cordless vacuum cleaner is the IZ300UKT. It was released in late 2021 and has a new brush roller that is equipped not just with bristles but also with “PowerFins” stiff fabric flaps organized in a chevron that agitate the fibers in your carpet much more forcefully than a brush alone. These features, together with Shark’s powerful cleaning powers and articulated extension wand, combine to make this vacuum one of the most effective cordless stick vacuums on the market.
Money with the Shark Anti Hair Wrap Cordless Stick Vacuum
There are a few different IZ300UKT models floating around, and they’re all fairly similar. Shark’s TruePet attachment (the T in the name) a small motorized head for use in the vacuum’s handheld mode – is included with the model reviewed here. If you don’t need or want that, go for the IZ300UK instead and save some money. It’s the same vacuum, but without the attachment, and it’ll set you back £400.
There are also two-battery versions of both of these machines – the IZ320UK and IZ320UKT – for individuals who need more battery life for longer cleaning chores. These will set you back £500 and £530, respectively. It measures 260 x 245 x 1,180mm (WDH) when fully extended, and there’s a hinge in the center of the extension wand that allows it to fold down to 690mm in height for storage or cleaning beneath low furniture. The vacuum is rather hefty, weighing 4.58kg, but the weight is evenly spread between the floor head at the bottom and the handheld unit at the top.
Should I purchase it?
When it came to picking up our test spills, the Shark IZ300UKT proved to be one of the greatest cordless stick vacuum cleaners we’ve ever encountered. The results speak for themselves, outperforming even the top-end Dyson V15 Detect (£599) and the Dyson V11 Outsize in our flour and cereal tests (read more on Dyson).
There are a few other features that make Shark’s cordless stick appealing. It’s much more practical to have the hard floor and carpet rollers in the one-floor head than rotating between them, and it doesn’t appear to affect its cleaning ability on any surface. I’m also a big fan of Shark’s Anti Hair Wrap technology, which keeps long hair out of the rollers.
