When I saw the moniker “Liquid Lash Extensions,” I was already sold, but I couldn’t help but note the number of reviews: 7,569 in total, with 6,005 (and counting) of them being five stars. This is the pinnacle of marketing success. Because Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions is a fiber mascara, liquid fibers are used to build up your lashes. This recipe contains an orchid stem cell complex, which encourages lash growth, as well as Japanese pepper extract, which conditions lashes. When I first used it, I realized that if I left it on for too long (or tried to reapply it later), it became clumpy.

To the best of my knowledge, the brand does not explain why this is the case; all they say is that you should start at the base of your lashes. It added length and separation to my lashes in a way that simply running it through them didn’t.

My Personal Experience
As I already stated, I am a lash purist. Because my lashes are naturally short and straight, I’ve never been a fan of applying mascara and then scraping it off with a scraper 12 hours later. (Plus, I have allergies, so my eyes are itchy and scratched all the time.) My previous favorite mascara was Milk Makeup’s, Kush Mascara. It doesn’t add much length, but it’s quite volumizing and holds a curl well. It’s shaky, but it’s simple to remove.
First Impressions
The product appeared to be more liquid-y than other formulas (I could tell just by pumping the wand), and the way it adhered to the wand sounded hopeful for how it would adhere to my lashes. The wand’s incredibly short bristles made it easy to apply straight away—but the lack of lengthy, brush-like bristles gave me pause (it felt very thin and boring compared to the Kush Mascara wand) (compared to the Kush Mascara wand, it felt very thin and uninspiring). As I’ve recently discovered, the “thin and uninteresting” type of wand is much better for reaching the corner lashes.

I like to curl my lashes first, so I apply the first coat of this mascara after a quick pump with my curler. Because my lashes are naturally straight, I open the tube, curl them quickly, and apply it as quickly as possible. Because this cream is sticky, you should take your time when applying it. I curl my hair and then add one small layer of mascara. After that, I curl and apply the second side while waiting for the first to dry.
In terms of overall length, it gets a 9.5/10.
It’s tough to deny that this mascara lengthens your lashes significantly. My short, stumpy lashes were significantly longer thanks to the wand’s stumpy bristles, and the wand’s ergonomic form made it easy to get into the corners of my eyes. I recommend it to everyone who curls their lashes before applying mascara since it acts as glue to keep the curl in place.

Furthermore, those small individual “lash tubes” must be removed in some way, and while Thrive provides a simple method for doing so, I find it really difficult. Even when drying time is taken into consideration, it takes a long time to put on and take off. I don’t know about you, but mascara is one of those items about which I am incredibly picky. To wit, I’ve been using my Glossier Lash Slick and Yves Saint Laurent The Curler is my go-to eye makeup product for as long as I can remember.
I didn’t consider adding a new mascara formula to my restricted lineup until I saw that mascara video you know the one, where a happy blonde girl swiftly coats her lashes in Thrive Causemetics mascara till they’re extraordinarily long and fluffy But something about that video struck a chord with me: I mean, how could someone go from normal, bland lashes to falsie-worthy length in a matter of seconds? Despite the fact that I usually stick to drugstore brands, the $24 mascara grabbed my curiosity enough that I decided to give it a try.
We’ve made our choice:
I give the Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara a 7.2/10 overall. It’s great for extreme length, but it doesn’t provide much drama or volume (I still use the Milk Kush Mascara when I want a fuller look). The Thrive mascara requires patience to remove, but if you think the extra length is worth the effort, you’ll be delighted. While the final product may appear a little too thin out, it does give the appearance of lash extensions without the cost or trip to the salon.
