Lili Bernard Cosby Show Character: According to Bill Cosby’s accuser, he drugged her and then sexually attacked her in an Atlantic City hotel room. In a lawsuit against disgraced comedian Bill Cosby, a former actress and one of his most vocal victims claims that the disgraced comic drugged and raped her in 1990 at one of Donald Trump’s Atlantic City hotels.
Bill Cosby was served with a civil lawsuit on Thursday in federal court in New Jersey by Lili Bernard, who has previously spoken publicly about her accusations against the 84-year-old comedian. She has filed a lawsuit against Cosby seeking $125 million in damages.
Lili Bernard said that Bill Cosby raped her after giving her a poisoned drink during a press appearance in 2015, according to Lili Bernard.
She says that the actor approached her after she starred on The Cosby Show and that the two became friends as a result of their relationship.
One of Bill Cosby’s many claimed victims has formally launched a legal complaint against the comedian in federal court. On Thursday, actress Lili Bernard, who was a former cast member of The Cosby Show, filed a lawsuit against the comedian in federal court in New Jersey.
Bernard came out as one of Cosby’s alleged assault victims in 2015, one of many who have come forward since then. She claims that in 1990, while posing as her acting coach, Cosby drugged and raped her, causing her to lose her memory. Their first encounter took place on the set of The Cosby Show in 1984 when the actress appeared in a cameo role as Mrs. Minifield on the comedy.
Specifically, her recently filed case is in accordance with the state of New Jersey’s two-year look-back window, which enables sexual abuse survivors to file civil lawsuits against their assailants even if the assault happened outside of the usual statute of limitations period. According to papers acquired by Yahoo Entertainment, Bernard is allegedly demanding no less than $25 million in compensation.
Ms. Bernard, who was speaking with co-accused Sammie Mays, said, “He complimented me…. He helped me to my feet. I had faith in him. After all, he was the legendary Bill Cosby. He drugged me and raped me after he had gained my full and utter confidence and love.”
While Ms. Bernard did file an official complaint with the police, it was ultimately decided that prosecutors would not continue since the alleged crime occurred before 1996, when the statute of limitations for sexual assault was removed in the state of New Jersey.
“I’m coming out to teach my 6-year-old daughter that it’s okay to speak up for herself and to say that I survived Bill Cosby’s drugging and raping me,” Ms. Bernard said in her statement.
The reason I’m standing here is to reclaim my power and face the fear that has kept me paralyzed for so many years.
Lili filed a lawsuit against the disgraced comedian in October 2021, claiming that she continues to live in terror as a result of his actions.
“I have waited a long time to be able to pursue my case in court, and I am looking forward to being heard and to holding Cosby responsible for what he has done to me,” she said in a statement.
“Even though it happened a long time ago, I still have to deal with the dread, anguish, and humiliation every day of my life.”
Cosby offered to teach Bernard when she was a young actress in the 1990s, according to Bernard, who met the comedian on the set of “The Cosby Show.”
