Halo Episode 8 Review: Halo attempts to address mankind’s worth in a dismal episode that deviates even further from the games (and gives Master Chief a lover). Halo paints with broad brushstrokes. This week’s episode focuses on Halsey, Master Chief, and Makee as they try to deliver a message about the value of human life, the importance of our relationships with one another, and the reality that people should not be implanted with Technology to improve their armament.
As a result, some of the pulpy uniqueness that made the games succeed is diluted even further. Despite some clever gestures and metaphors, Halo continues to silence itself when it should be shouting. John and Makee are still reeling at UNSC headquarters after their euphoric glimpse of the Halo ring. During this period, John starts to show Makee about the world, and Makee starts to trust him. His main goal is to persuade the UN Security Council that she is the most qualified individual to interpret the ring depicted in the artifact. After intercourse, Makee takes out her secret fingernail knife. Cortana’s neural link provides her with a hazy view of John’s emotional state, causing her to be jealous and/or discover her own emotional side.
The Covenant’s characteristic “glassing,” which involves searing a planet’s surface from orbit, serves as a stark reminder that they are still after human-controlled worlds. Halsey isn’t the only one who’s upping her game. The showdown with Keyes confirms her long-held beliefs. “I admire mankind, but humans are the problem,” she believes, and “I love humanity.” These parallels show that Halsey and Makee are becoming increasingly similar to the Covenant. The doctor is adamant that only she, along with John and Makee, can activate any extraterrestrial objects using the Halo ring.
Master Chief and Makee go for a walk at the Park
The episode ‘Allegiance,’ directed by Jonathan Liebesman and written by Steven Kane, begins with Master Chief painting a circle in his own reflection in a mirror. Dan Briceno and Karl Walter Lindenlaub’s iconic editing depicts Makee staring into her room’s round mirror, almost as if she can see Master Chief through it. Master Chief abruptly stops her thoughts and invites her to join him on a walk.
Makee notices how similar Reach City looks to the stories her childhood friend told her during Halsey’s memories of Master Chief’s boyhood. Does Cortana (Jen Taylor) have faith in Makee if Master Chief does? According to Cortana, Master Chief currently has no trust in anyone. Master Chief recognizes the problem and takes Makee to a remote spot to discuss the visions they shared. Makee reveals that the Covenant’s main purpose is to ethnically cleanse humanity. Despite this, Master Chief is optimistic about humanity’s future.
Even while it sounds like an enormous cliffhanger, it’s actually fairly light. Despite its best attempts, the show’s video game adaptations continue to be a problem. Despite the fact that this episode has a closer relationship to the games than the others, key plot points are still separate (and not as compelling). The relationship between John and Cortana remains tight. They were always the center of attention in the games, and they may be romantic or not. Because Cortana’s sexual jealousy is exposed, and their interaction consists primarily of Chief telling her to shut up, their chemistry is weakened.
Halsey’s Manipulative Strategies
Meanwhile, Riz, Vannak, and Kai practice jock behavior in preparation for the Covenant’s next assault. Miranda (Olive Gray) tries to construct a simpler recording of the Sangheili conversation. Captain Keyes gets a quick glimpse of how far his daughter’s trip has advanced as he checks in on her progress. In a nice transition, we witness Makee praying on her own in her chamber. While the Master Chief is visiting her, Cortana creepily (and unhappily) sees the Master Chief and Snake sharing some intimate moments. Makee (apparently) intends to stab Master Chief with her laser nail, which she will then rip out in the most heinous manner possible.
Another significant development is Halsey’s defiance. She does clash with Paragonsky and desert to the Covenant in some lesser-known Halo material. She never betrays the UNSC as a whole, and in Halo Infinite, she returns to the fold. I’ve been wondering because I’m not sure what’s wrong with the Silver Timeline version if it’s the UNSC’s moral incoherence that’s the lesser of two evils. Is it possible that having Halsey and Paragonsky verbally spar was so much fun, and now that fun has vanished?
Perhaps Halsey’s longing for a superhuman savior is exacerbated by the fact that he has the backing of an entire military force. Halsey isn’t saying or doing anything out of the usual. If she is perceived as exclusively accountable for the Spartans rather than a willing participant in the UNSC’s harsh techniques, there will be less drama. She acted as if she had no idea what she was doing when confronted by the Insurrectionists. Another illustration of the drama’s weakening is the disparity between Kwan and John’s stories.
Episode 8 of “Halo”: “Whose side is Makee truly on?” True Question
Halsey activates the Zed Protocol as soon as she realizes Makee will not aid her of his own free will, thus cutting off all other lines of communication. Halsey instructs Kai, Vannak, and Riz to go get Master Chief, Makee, and the artifact and bring it to her so she may speak with them alone. Because she doesn’t have the emotion-suppressing pellet, she tells Vannak and Riz to eliminate Kai and carry out the plan on their own. When Halsey states she can’t wait to have full control over Master Chief, Cortana exhibits some trepidation, despite her insistence that she isn’t sentimental.
Master Chief has arrived to put Makee to the test. This indicates that Makee is a forger, as Miranda can recognize her voice in the Covenant recording. Miranda escapes to the testing facility after failing to contact anyone to prevent Makee from getting any closer to the artifact. Riz and Vannak have set Master Chief and Makee up in a trap. When Halsey informs Cortana this, she should be prepared to drop Master Chief and seize control of his physiological processes. Cortana betrays Halsey, telling Master Chief to avoid the trap that has been set. Cortana rushes to assist Master Chief after Halsey’s connection to the UNSC is lost.
The seventh episode of Halo: First Contact recaps the events of the previous week
Halo Season 1 Episode 7 is titled “Inheritance,” and it is the seventh episode of the first season. Kwan Ha wakes up in a trance-like state wherever the Alien invaders attacked, knowing she must return there. During Rubble, Soren teaches the squirrel a few things so that he doesn’t repeat the same mistakes. Soren and Laura (Fiona O’Shaughnessy) had a brief chat about Kwan Ha at the start, and it appears that Soren is becoming increasingly active in Kwan Ha.
Where can I look at it?
As previously indicated, the eighth episode of Halo season 1 is available on Paramount+. The streaming service’s introductory plans start at $4.99 per month. Master Chief tells Makee to find a Marine and proceed to Parangosky while he handles with Riz and Vannak.
