Gaige Grosskreutz Background: According to newly obtained records obtained by Wisconsin Right Now through an open records request, Gaige Grosskreutz, the Black Lives Matter Activist who was shot with a gun in hand by Kyle Rittenhouse, was arrested for prowling behind the West Allis Police Department a few days before the shooting. According to the police complaint!
He is accused of “lurking” in an area where police officers park their own cars and videotape them. The ticket is still active, and it will be heard in court on February 3. Mr. Grosskreutz is again in the headlines because he has filed a notice of claim demanding millions of dollars from city authorities in Kenosha, effectively accusing them of presumed carelessness since Rittenhouse shot him as he advanced toward Rittenhouse with a firearm. He is demanding a portion of his lost future profits. According to Grosskreutz’s testimony at the Rittenhouse trial on November 8, 2021.
He was within three feet of Rittenhouse with his revolver drawn, and he was coming toward him when Rittenhouse shot him in the arm. He was the only one of the men shot by Rittenhouse who managed to live. Rittenhouse is alleging that he was acting in self-defense. More information about Grosskreutz’s testimony may be found here. But, what exactly has Grosskreutz been up to lately? We were able to collect police records that provide a more complete image of Grosskreutz than the positive pieces that have appeared in numerous media publications. Neither of the reports has been previously published.
According to Witnesses
“Gaige had no cause to be there, and there was no car in the parking lot for her to use. “He had previously been caught for prowling in the same location and had been released,” according to the report on the prowling incident. “Gaige looked to be videotaping personal automobiles in the back police parking area, according to witnesses. Gaige has made it obvious that he opposes law enforcement. Gaige was taken into custody for prowling, jailed, cited, and released.”
His actions were also being examined in a Facebook threats case that occurred earlier that summer, but the victim, who had arranged an event to paint over lettering in a “defund the cops” mural outside Milwaukee City Hall, elected not to seek charges, according to West Allis Police records. Following a tip, we filed an open records request with the police department and were provided with two police reports regarding Grosskreutz, a member of the People’s Revolutionary Party.
Because these instances contribute to a more complete biography of Grosskreutz and offer a deeper understanding of the individuals behind the protest movement that Rittenhouse faced on that particular day, we’re publishing this information. The guys who were shot in Kenosha have been extensively demonized in the media, who have described them as harmless demonstrators.
We previously reported on the criminal records of all three men shot by Rittenhouse; while Gaige Paul Grosskreutz does not have a criminal record, contrary to what some social media posts falsely claimed, he does have a previous forfeiture case for failing to obey police officers, as well as a case for making loud noises, which we previously reported on. In 2016, he was found guilty of a criminal misdemeanor for possessing a handgun while under the influence of alcohol. He identified his address as West Allis.
Grosskreutz Stepped up to the Plate as a Paramedic
Rittenhouse was a member of the armed civilians who wished to protect businesses from vandalism during the demonstrations. He was one of the demonstrators calling for justice for Jacob Blake, who was shot at least eight times in the back by Kenosha Police Officer Rusten Sheskey on August 23, 2020. In the early hours of the morning, Grosskreutz stepped up to the plate as a paramedic. At the protest, he showed up with his social justice group, the People’s Revolution Movement, based in Milwaukee.
Rittenhouse shot and killed two protesters, Joseph D. Rosenbaum and Anthony M. Huber, with a Smith & Wesson AR-15 style.223 rifle. Rittenhouse shot Grosskreutz’s right arm as he approached him with his handgun in his right hand. Grosskreutz instructed his rescuers to use a tourniquet to halt his bleeding while he lay wounded. Reconstructive surgery in Milwaukee was performed after he was flown there in a life-threatening situation.

Lost Creek Adventures, an outfitter in Cornucopia, Wisconsin that also offers courses in outdoor skills and wilderness survival in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, is where he previously worked as a special events coordinator and a sea kayak guide. He was a skilled kayaker and frequently escorted others on boating excursions. One of his colleagues is part of a team that uses outdoor activities to help people overcome trauma and substance abuse. He aspired to work in wilderness therapy when he grew up.
Rittenhouse fatally shot him on August 25, 2020 (26 years Old)
He attended Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, where he majored in outdoor education and program administration. After being shot by Rittenhouse in Kenosha, he was supposed to graduate in December 2020. However, his education has been put on hold. He served as a medic for the Black Lives Matter demonstrations in Milwaukee from June to July of 2020 as a volunteer. On August 25, 2020, he was shot by Rittenhouse and taken to two Kenosha hospitals for treatment. He was taken to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee by Flight for Life after that.
On the 8th of November 2021, he gave testimony in court about why he was armed on the 25th of August of that year. “I’m a supporter of the Second Amendment,” he said. I support the right of citizens to keep and bear arms, and that night was no exception. There are four items in my pocket: my keys, phone, wallet, and a gun.” When Rittenhouse was found not guilty on one count of first-degree reckless homicide, two counts of first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment on November 19, 2021, attorneys for his and Rosenbaum’s estate said two people “did not deserve to die that night.”
His training as an emergency medical technician basic (EMT-B) took place at the Oak Creek, Wisconsin campus of Milwaukee Area Technical College from 2013 to 2016. While intoxicated in 2016, he was charged with a criminal misdemeanor for carrying a firearm. Other charges against him included failure to comply with police orders, as well as making loud noises while driving. Bethany Crevensten, an activist in Milwaukee, told The Oklahoman that he was part of a group of protesters calling for justice for George Floyd, who died on May 25, 2020.
He attended West Allis Central High School from 2009 to 2012. His American Politics teacher excused him from class when he went to his first protest in support of LGBTQ rights during his freshman year of high school, USA Today has learned. The West Allis Police Department arrested him for simple assault on November 17th, 2010. An argument with his grandmother Janice A. Grosskreutz resulted in her calling the police and accusing him of striking her across the face with an open hand.
