BTR HAS RETURNED!!!!! Big Time Rush’s first new song, “Call It Like I See It,” was published just eight years before their reunion shows this week. They’ll be performing at the Q102 Jingle Ball in Philadelphia tonight, followed by headline shows in Chicago and New York City on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively! It’ll be a big night in Philly for their first live engagement in eight years! You might be the first to hear their new track, as well as some old favorites, at one of the shows.
“Bought the Rights 2021” is one of the publication credits for the new song on Spotify. Kendall, Logan, James, and Carlos all seem to have something to say about each of their new tracks! We’re hoping that Big Time Rush is just getting started and that they’ll be announcing their fourth album and a full tour soon. We’ll be blasting the new track on repeat in our automobiles with the windows down till then. From November 28, 2009, through July 25, 2013, Nickelodeon aired a musical comedy series.
History
Nickelodeon aired the hour-long pilot episode “Big Time Audition” on November 28, 2009. On January 18, 2010, the first episode aired. On September 25, 2010, Season 2 premiered. On May 24, 2011, Big Time Rush was renewed for a third season. Season three premiered on May 12, 2012. The film adaptation of the series, “Big Time Movie,” premiered on March 10, 2012. On August 6, 2012, Big Time Rush received a 13-episode fourth season. On January 7, the filming began. Season 4 premiered on May 2, 2013, and concluded with “Big Time Dreams” on July 25, 2013.
Music
Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Logan Henderson, and Carlos Pena Jr. are the members of the team. Nickelodeon collaborated with Columbia/Epic Label Group to develop the series, which explains the inclusion of music and instrumentals. Sony/Columbia published it on October 11, 2010. Their second full-length album, Elevate, was released on November 21, 2011. On July 22, Big Time Rush released a new track with Iyaz on iTunes. New songs include Music Sounds Better With U (ft. Casting
A nationwide casting began in 2007. Over 1500 young adult and adolescent hopefuls auditioned. James Maslow and Logan Henderson were the first actors to be cast. Kendall Schmidt was a difficult role to cast last. Curt Hansen, who now plays Dak Zevon, was originally cast, but when he appeared too elderly and sounded too much like James in the pick-up pilot, the producers auditioned and cast Schmidt, who was also acquainted with Logan Henderson before casting. In August of 2009, filming began.
Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide was their prior collaboration. Pena was hesitant to audition at first, but his manager pushed him to submit a clip. Executive producer Scott Fellows was inspired by the actor portraying each character. Spencer Locke, Carlie Casey, Daran Norris, Adam Conway (as a recurring cast member), and James Arnold Taylor join Pena on the show (as a guest stars).
Reception
Nickelodeon aired a one-hour special preview (the series pilot and first episode) on November 28, 2009, which received 3.6 million views. The series premiered to 6.8 million viewers on January 18, 2010, following the iCarly special “iSaved Your Life,” making it Nickelodeon’s highest-rated live-action series debut.
The reception to the film was mixed
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, “Nick’s pop band is modeled after the Jonas Brothers. ‘Rush’ is Nick’s response to Disney Channel’s ‘JONAS,’ though it is less organic due to the absence of siblings.” According to the Hartford Courant, it featured “thin pop and bad gags.” The Boston Globe reports that “one of several children’s shows that promotes children’s hopes of a career in show business.
The genre is stronger than ever at a time when tabloid fantasies are ubiquitous.” DVD Talk reviews Big Time Rush: Season 1, Volume 1 on DVD. “Nonetheless, as I worked my way through this collection from the beginning of the series, I was always informed and entertained.
