Who Does Romeo Beckham Play For: Romeo James Beckham is an English professional footballer who currently plays as a forward for Fort Lauderdale CF of the United Soccer League (USL). After being released from Arsenal, he originally began playing competitive football, but after a short period of time, he retired. In 2021, he will join the Major League Soccer affiliate of his father, David Beckham, who was the captain of the former England national football team.
The path for David Beckham’s son Romeo to attempt to follow in his renowned father’s footsteps has begun, with the youngster making his professional football debut this season.
He made his professional debut for Fort Lauderdale CF on Sunday night, the third-tier American club that serves as a reserve team for the Beckham family’s Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise Inter Miami. The 19-year-old is the second son of former England captain David and his wife Victoria, and the youngest of their three children.
Romeo, who varies from his father in that he plays as a versatile attacker rather than on the right-wing, started and played for 79 minutes as Darren Powell’s team drew 2-2 with Tormenta FC at DRV PNK Stadium in USL League One.
However, he was not the only son of a former Manchester United star and Three Lions international to be featured in the match, with Harvey Neville also playing for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers.
A fellow ’92 alumni, right-back Neville is also 19 years old and is the son of Phil Neville, who left his position as manager of England’s women’s national team to take over as head coach of Inter Miami at the start of the season. Beckham and Neville were classmates at the University of California at Berkeley.
Beckham and his siblings all joined Arsenal’s Academy in 2014, and Beckham is the youngest of the group. Beckham, on the other hand, was removed from the team in 2015, months after his older brother Brooklyn was denied a scholarship at Arsenal and stated that he did not want to continue playing football.
Following his retirement, he began training with Andy Murray in tennis. It was stated in 2020 that he intended to make a comeback in football. In the past, David had constructed a tennis court at the Beckham family home in order to assist Beckham’s tennis dreams; however, the court was demolished and replaced with a football pitch in order to accommodate Beckham’s wish to return to football.
Beckham joined Fort Lauderdale CF, the reserve affiliate of his father’s club Inter Miami, in September 2021, when he turned 19, making him the youngest player ever to do so. This followed reports that he had been spotted training with the Inter Miami club in February of this year.
Beckham made his professional debut on September 19, 2021, in a 2–2 tie against Tormenta FC, in which he played 67 minutes and received a yellow card.
