And although sesame roasted asparagus is about the last thing that goes with barbecue chicken, its exactly what I made. I’ve had this idea in my head that I hated sesame oil. Well, that was until, you know, I actually tried it for the first time last night. And who knew sesame seeds added such a great crunch and flavor? I always figured sesame seed bagels were for people who truly just wanted plain but didn’t feel like being boring about it
Sesame Roasted Asparagus
1 bunch of asparagus
Salt, pepper, garlic powder, ginger if desired
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Wash asparagus and cut off about 1/2 inch of the stem from the bottom. Toss asparagus with about a teaspoon each of olive oil and sesame oil. Add sesame seeds, garlic, salt, and pepper (and ginger if you like it) and roast them for 35 minutes to perfection. I also finished mine under broil for 3 minutes to char them a bit.
Amount of oil and spices will vary on amount of asparagus you purchase and your taste preference.
