Rumors, a phony billboard, and a lot of anticipation have led to this year’s lineup. Is this a decent cast? That’s a matter of personal preference. While Radiohead is universally adored, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Lana Del Rey aren’t universally adored. As far as I’m concerned, these latter two headliners are more of a matter of personal preference. The Shoeclack staff has found time to conduct a more in-depth analysis of the roster. This year’s three-day Osheaga passes cost $315, which some of you have expressed worry about. The cost is obviously astronomical. Osheaga, on the other hand, appears to be a bargain. Evenko did not pay us to write this post; we did it for our own amusement.

The dollar worth of this item is $

In spite of the current buzz, this is a significant problem for Canadian music events. Currently, the CAD/USD exchange rate is $1 to $0.34. There is also the fact that 70% of the crowd was from outside Quebec in 2013. US citizens would pay roughly $235 for a three-day pass, which is a lot less than the $300-$300 price tag for Coachella, Firefly, and Lollapalooza festivals in the United States. We already know that it’s a bargain for them. If it’s cheaper for American festival-goers, it’s the other way around for Evenko-goers. Attracting performers from the United States is prohibitively expensive for Osheaga, so they’ll have to raise their prices if they want to bring in big-name international brands. This is a questionable issue… yet it’s still here!

Performers who are known as “Headliners”

A look at the infographic below shows that it has been a while since we last saw two of this year’s three headliners in Montreal. Radiohead and the Red Hot Chili Peppers were last in Montreal in 2012, when they played a joint show. Last year Grimes and Lana went to the Bell Centre with Lana. How much did tickets cost for this show in particular? ranging from $52.50 The Bell Centre’s three headliner events would cost roughly $300 if customers were willing to spend that much to see them all. plus there are still another 97 bands playing at Osheaga.

Montreal’s Artists & Shows

We figured it out! Since last year’s Osheaga, at least 40 musicians have been or are scheduled to visit Montreal. This means that you could have watched 40 of the performers on the list perform a full set right here in Montreal. That’s not all… we tallied up the total bill. On an average of $24.38 for each concert, that works out to $975.25 in total. To the individual who thinks “Yeah right, the Osheaga lineup this year isn’t that good!” congrats! “I’ve already seen practically all of the bands!” There you go, buddy: you’ve been cheated!

AT OSHEAGA, HOW MUCH DO YOU NEED TO EXPECT TO SPEND?

A festival called Osheaga is held each year in Montreal, Quebec, in May. You’ve come to the right place if you have any questions about getting tickets to the event. Everything you need to know about Osheaga tickets, including when they go on sale and how much they cost, will be covered on this page. Let us walk you through the process of purchasing tickets to Osheaga, a fantastic music event.

HOW MUCH DO OSHEAGA PASSES COME TO YOU?

General admission, gold, and platinum passes are all options for attendees at Osheaga. Above, you can see the pricing for each choice. Osheaga’s general admission tickets are $320, while the Gold and Platinum VIP upgraded passes cost $585 and $1150, respectively. If you’re an American, you’ll save a lot of money because the pricing is all in Canadian dollars. According to Osheaga’s website, general admission tickets cost $240 USD. This may change based on exchange rates and Trump’s impact on the US economy.

Osheaga Passes will go on sale at a later date: On February 28th, 2017 Osheaga 2017 passes went on sale. There are no surprises when it comes to Osheaga revealing the lineup and then selling tickets instantly. On February 28th, 2017, the Osheaga 2017 line-up was also released. Osheaga passes will be available for purchase in the future, but not before the end of February or the beginning of March. Osheaga passes went on sale, for example, on February 23rd, 2016, and on March 24th, 2015, respectively. This announcement and ticket sales for Osheaga appear to have been pushed back to February, so I’d keep an eye out for it in the coming months.

ARE THERE EARLY BIRD / ADVANCED SALE OPPORTUNITIES?

Prior to the release of the lineup and the sale of tickets, there are usually pre-sale opportunities at Osheaga. As a result, if you purchase during this early bird period, you will have no idea of the lineup. It’s a trade-off because the passes will be less expensive. The presale price for Osheaga general admission tickets this year was $300, which is $20 less than last year’s. Pre-sale tickets for Osheaga 2017 went on sale on February 15th, almost two weeks before the official lineup and regular ticket sales began. Before the lineup is published, this is a common occurrence.

WHERE CAN I FIND MORE OSHEAGA

It is true that Osheaga’s three-day regular admission passes typically sell out. In contrast to Osheaga’s general admission and single-day passes, which tend to sell out quickly, the VIP / enhanced choices are less likely to be in high demand. Osheaga 2016 general admission tickets sold out on July 3rd, 2016, for example. However, unlike Coachella, Osheaga is not. When tickets go on sale in February, don’t expect them to be snapped up right away.

So they will sell out, but it normally doesn’t happen until June/July. In other words, if you’re on the fence about purchasing passes, you still have some time to change your mind. As attendance at Osheaga grows year after year, the event’s sell-out deadline may be approaching. You can save money by purchasing your passes early, as hotel prices in Montreal tend to rise closer to the festival.

Let’s assume we put the average price of a show in Montreal at $24.38 per performance… To get to $315 for a weekend pass, you’ll need to watch an average of 4.3 acts per day, or 13 musicians in total. If you only go to Osheaga to chat, snap selfies, do drugs, and overall be a bother to the people around you, then you’re either a douchebag or you don’t know what you’re doing.

SUMMARY

If you’re coming from the United States or Europe, Osheaga is a terrific festival with a superb lineup at a reasonable price. Visiting Osheaga is an excellent reason to visit Montreal. Get your tickets before they’re all gone!
