It’s easy to overlook slow drips. As humans, we are prone to doing so on a regular basis. A trickle from a sluggish drip, on the other hand, can turn into a deluge if left untreated. The Landreths were forced to relocate for the fifth time as a result of the flood, just as their silver star-winning dad was about to deploy. While still in the sixth school, Logan Landreth, FLVS Class of 2021 alumnus, was determined to use online learning and resiliency to build a dam to keep his family together. Logan had already changed schools five times by the fifth grade, so he needed to mature rapidly and make a lot of new friends. Logan’s mother, Cheryl, decided she didn’t want to move her family again, potentially leading to a separation.

Taking a Stand Against the Status Quo

Logan has always been an energetic, extroverted, and positive person, therefore it wasn’t always easy for him to mix in with other students in a face-to-face learning setting. Logan didn’t want to change his individuality to fit in, whether it was through his dress or his demeanor.

A transfer would have meant the disintegration of my family, something I didn’t want to happen. We didn’t seriously contemplate homeschooling my children until we realized that doing so could help keep my family together. It did, and Logan was ecstatic to be able to confirm it. Logan received the tools, support, and principles he needed to keep his family together thanks to FLVS. As a result, Logan was taken away by the level of support and passion he received from his instructors when he initially joined FLVS. Their encouragement to be himself changed Logan’s perspective on life. I was nervous at first, but with the guidance and supervision of my new professors, I have whisked away to a new world where I could once again be a child.

He’s looking for his calling.

Logan was awake, looking at the world through the lens of numbers. By the time he was two years old, he could count all the way up to 2,000. Mathematics had captivated him! ‘I used to take Logan for a run in his stroller when he was a newborn,’ Cheryl recounted. Counting the trees as a group was one of our favorite ways to keep him entertained. In retrospect, it’s possible that his interest in mathematics was sparked by the trees.”

Logan was able to fully enjoy the flexibility of his education as a result of the self-discipline and organizational skills he acquired at FLVS. With the help of his new skills and helpful teachers, Logan was the first FLVS student in his Forensic Science class to receive a perfect score on all of his tests, assignments, and discussion-based evaluations. During his seven years at FLVS, he never had a grade lower than an A.

Self-control is a powerful tool

Logan’s mother was concerned about how he would handle his schedule and self-discipline when he first started at FLVS. Logan’s uneasiness disappeared quickly once his instructors gave him advice and instructions on how to set his own pace, remain on track, and set goals. Logan’s mother, Cheryl, was “amazed” by the instructors’ response. They were clearly interested in hearing about Logan’s progress in his academics.”

Logan’s Forensic Science class was the turning point in his scholastic career because his teacher, Mr. Carlyle, showed him how mathematics could assist create realistic crime scenes, despite the fact that he had previously enjoyed math and science. Logan has been accepted to the University of Central Florida to pursue a Ph.D. in Forensic Science this fall. He hopes to work as a medical examiner one day.

Participant in the Lives of Others

The 4.0 student’s presence was more than just his family’s. After seven years of being homeschooled and largely using FLVS as his main educational answer, the epidemic inspired him to help kids in his community who were experiencing online learning for the first time. Logan and his mother found a new way of life challenges, and they wanted to assist other parents and students who were having trouble adjusting. Logan and his mother were always willing to help anybody who needed it. Logan and Cheryl were there to support pupils who needed extra help with math, delivering math tutoring and parenting advice to parents who were the primary educators for their children.

Logan and his mother treasure the memories they had at FLVS because it allowed them to spend time together as a family. Logan’s parents are renewing their vows in front of their son, seven years after their marriage was sealed with FLVS. In retrospect, I realize how much FLVS influenced my life, and I’m sorry to see this chapter come to an end. For me, it’s not only a four-poster bed; I built a house. “It’s a place I’m happy to call home.” For one thing, adds Logan, “there is something to be said for being able to do math in your PJs.” On Friday morning, thousands of contestants descended on Toyko’s Olympic floor, eager to represent their country and demonstrate their amazing abilities and dedication to the world. For many of these athletes, competing in the Olympic Games is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Florida Virtual School (FLVS)

Each of these athletes has a story to tell, from the beginning of their sport’s journey to their most recent triumph, and every challenge they’ve overcome along the way. Gia Griffith is a part of the Florida Virtual School (FLVS) family, according to her students. Gia’s passion for sports began at the age of three when she began gymnastics and karate instruction. She competed in her first gymnastics competition and placed in the top ten, which is a fantastic accomplishment for a beginner gymnast. When we asked Gia how she started in athletics, she claimed she was motivated by her mother, who is a bodybuilder. “I want to be like my mum!” says the child.

At the age of eleven, she has already tried more than ten sports, ranging from jiu-jitsu to weightlifting. But how can she keep her motivation? “I do it because I enjoy it and because I want to grow,” she says. She shares the same sentiments when it comes to her academic interests. FLVS courses like Science and Math, according to Gia, use activities and movies to make learning fun.
