A video of Mr Grant dancing with Joan, to whom he had been married for 35 years, was uploaded on social media, and she was embraced by him. “ONLY YOU!,” he stated in his letter. The couple had been together for 35 years when they tied the knot in 1986, following three years of dating, something they had never intended to do in the first place.
In a statement to The Independent, he said that they met at the Actors’ Centre in London in December 1982, and he was immediately taken with Joan, who worked as a dialect coach. The loss of his wife Joan, who died at the age of 71 after 35 years of marriage, was confirmed today by Richard E Grant, who also posted a devastating video of the couple dancing together.
Joan, a voice coach from Aberdeen, met Grant when he was just starting out in his career in 1986, and the two have been together ever since.

The couple had survived adversity throughout their lives and had spoken publicly about the death of their first child together, who died after only half an hour of life.
Joan had gone through a number of losses, but she was determined to keep trying after witnessing how well her husband had handled her son from a prior relationship, Tom.
When she became pregnant with her daughter Olivia in 1989, she informed her husband that ‘Fatherhood suits you.” ‘You’re very good at what you do.’ In addition to his training at the Central School of Speech and Drama, Washington has nearly 40 years of experience in the film industry as a voice and dialect coach, having worked with artists such as Anne Hathaway, Vanessa Redgrave, and Emma Stone.
Early efforts in the 1980s included Yentl, which starred Barbra Streisand, Highlander, which starred Mel Gibson, and The Bounty, which included Sir Anthony Hopkins and Mel Gibson.
Her work on films such as The Witches, in which she trained Anne Hathaway for the role of the Grand High Witch, and Yorgos Lanthimos’ black comedy The Favourite, in which she collaborated with Stone, has been particularly notable in recent years.
