The Beginnings of life
As he said in an interview, lvarez is a Jalisco native who comes from a family that settled in Michoacán’s Los Reyes before moving to Jalisco. His family relocated to Juanacatlán, Jalisco when he was five years old. A lifelong love of horseback riding began for him as a child growing up on the family farm. All of Alvarez’s seven brothers were professional boxers, and he is his youngest sibling. Ramón lvarez, Ricardo lvarez, and Rigoberto lvarez, all welterweight fighters, are among his brothers. People with red hair are often referred to as “Canelo” in Spanish, which is the male word for cinnamon.

During the WBC Convention in Mexico City on November 15, 2021, the WBC agreed to allow lvarez to challenge Ilunga Makabu for the WBC cruiserweight title. Because lvarez had never fought at cruiserweight before, Reynoso had to ask the WBC to order the title battle. The WBC has cut the cruiserweight limit from 200 pounds to 190 pounds due to the introduction of bridge weight. May 2022 has been rumored as the date for the fight to take place.
