I had a lot of fun with the whole process, and it was a unique experience. Because the directions claim it lasts 24 hours and I did not want red all over my mouth, the application method was a little difficult for me—not to mention a little nerve-wracking, as I do not have a steady hand. If I used too much or too little spray, the peel would either come off in chunks and stain my fingers, or it would cover my entire lower face instead of just my mouth. There are a few things you can do to speed up the application process: You can dab the spray-on instead of squirting it with a cotton ball, which did assist.
Initially, I experimented with the shade ‘First Kiss’, and as I peeled off the blue, I was shocked by how bold the Fuschia color was and how it actually just looked like my skin—there was no residue. I believe that in order to achieve the best results, the process should be repeated two times. Even for such a bright color, it doesn’t transfer at all. If you have chapped lips, make sure to fully exfoliate them before applying this product.

I decided to put the Wonderskin Lip Kit to the test by wearing it for a full ten hours – the amount of time the company claims you can wear the kit without retouching. A birthday brunch in London, complete with bottomless booze, with pals I hadn’t seen in months, seemed like the ideal solution. To get a deeper, more powerful stain, I decided to leave the stain on for the entire 45 seconds this time around.
My initial impressions Were Positive
When I first open a new product, I like to take a whiff and decide whether or not I like it based on how it smells. The Activator, on the other hand, has no odor whatsoever. To begin, I put the Masque on freshly exfoliated lips (I used Lush’s Watermelon Sugar Scrub, £6.50; shout out to any Harry Styles fans in the house). For some reason, applying the Masque like a lip gloss made me feel like I was putting on a Halloween costume.
Is it impervious to masked attacks? Despite numerous attempts to smear the inside of my mask, there was nothing there.
Is it safe to ingest? Yes, a few bottomless mimosas were no match for my lips, and my glass didn’t become marred by lipstick like it usually does.
Is it safe to eat? There were no pink stains on my food.
Is it safe to kiss? Although I’m married, I’m not planning on snogging random bar patrons during a pandemic because of my journalistic honor code. Stains on friends’ cheeks in the girls’ toilets proved to be kiss-proof, though, thanks to drunken kisses.
Is it water-resistant or not? The stain was not removed by rinsing my face with water at the end of the day, so I’ll have to wait for another hot spell before I put my theory to the test.
Do I like how my lips looked at the end of the day?
Despite the fact that my lips have dried out and the stain has clung to my dry patches, it is still there and there is no bleeding, but my lips look a little tight and drawn. You definitely need to thoroughly exfoliate your lips before using this one, and then apply lip balm on top to keep your lips looking full and vibrant all day long.
