Paul reid salary: Since April 2, 2019, Paul Reid, an Irish civil servant, has served as Director-General of the Health Service Executive, the national health service coordinating body. After a 25-year career with telecom service provider Eircom and its successors, he was Chief Executive of Fingal County Council from 2014 to 2019.
Prior to that, he served in Ireland’s Department of Public Spending and Reform and an international development charity. Last year, the HSE CEO received €370,136 in basic pay and €49,966 in allowances, which is a bonus in lieu of pension contribution.
According to FOI statistics, the second highest paying non-medical staff member received €188,829, while the third and fourth highest paid received just over €186,000 each.
The basic pay of Mr. Reid for An Taoiseach Micheal’s office is close to 370,000 euros higher than the current wage of 211,742 euros. The top ten non-medical personnel in the HSE – mainly managers – received a total of 2 million EUR in pay last year.
In April 2019, he received a fee of € 350,000 from the Cabinet for his appointment for the post. He moved from his position as CEO of the Council of Fingal County to a total of €165,320 annually.
